Just 30 minutes southwest of Kansas City, our mission is to inspire a love for horses in children and families, fostering deep connections between humans and these incredible animals.
We offer a range of riding lessons for all ages, from beginners to those looking to refine their skills, as well as group adventures, summer camps, and unique excursions to explore the natural beauty around us.

MICHAEL DOUGLASS
RANCH OWNER - HEAD TRAINER
CATTLE RANCHER & LAW ENFORCEMENT
Mike is one the owners and head trainer at Lakeside Stables.
With over 28 years in law enforcement and a lifelong passion for horses and cattle ranching.

Mike brings a unique blend of discipline, patience, and hands-on experience to every aspect of the ranch.
Since founding Lakeside Stables in 2005 he has dedicated himself to sharing his extensive knowledge through comprehensive horseback riding instruction, teaching students from the ground up to develop strong foundations in horsemanship.
Mike's expertise extends beyond the arena - as an accomplished cattle rancher, he has spent the last decade breeding and raising quality livestock, applying the same meticulous attention to detail that marked his law enforcement career.

His commitment to both animal welfare and rider development makes him an invaluable mentor to beginners and advanced riders alike.
Mike welcomes everyone to the ranch. When asked if he can provide private lessons because a student is struggling, he goes out of his way to make time.
KERI-ANN DOUGLASS

TRAVEL WEDDING AND EQUINE PHOTOGRAHHER
Keri-Ann, whose equestrian journey began at age 5 in the rolling hills of her Scottish family farm. Her early years were steeped in English riding tradition, but it was during her time as a nanny in London that she discovered her true passion - Western riding and reining.
Today, she brings that diverse riding background to Lakeside Stables, where her dedication to both students and boarders shines through in every interaction. Keri-Ann can been seen doing the small things that make life at the barn easier for studnets and boarders.

Beyond the arena, Keri-Ann is an internationally published photographer specializing in travel wedding, WESTERN LIFESTYLE and equestrian photography.
​
She offers on-site photo sessions at the ranch, capturing precious moments during summer camps, private lessons, and creating lasting memories for boarding families.
Whether you're looking to document your riding progress or capture that special bond with your favorite horse, Keri-Ann's artistic eye and understanding of equine behavior helps create truly memorable images.

JOHN AND KATHERINE DOUGLASS
Katherine and John Douglass are the parents to Mike. John has supported Kathy's passion for horses for along time. Kathy pushed Mike to follow his passion with horses and ranching,
John is a retired Law Enforecment Officer for over 40 year and Kathy is a retired nurse.
Both of Mikes parents are a big part of Lakeside Stables. They help with hay season, care for the animals and have their own mini heard of cattle.
